i want to try to put some paint over chrome pieces,do i just scuff up with light sandpaper, or any ideas on how i do it. thanks

Ideally you would strip chrome before painting but otherwise scuff the heck out of everything to give the paint some tooth to stick to. Etch or epoxy prime before top coating.

I Had Mine Sandblasted To Etch Them. Then Epoxy Coat Then High Build Primer Then Took All The Imperfections Out Then Painted Them. They Turned Out Great.

Mine had chrome that was hazy , but intact. I just basically solvent wiped them and then shot them with epoxy primer. No sanding or scuffing at all.

After that I shot them with 2K urethane primer surfacer, and then with the single stage urethane. They look great and the paint is still on after 2 full seasons of racing (over 2 1/2 years later)!

PS: I would recommend scuffing the surface, but had results without this step.

Just like 70Duster440 said, Ideally you would strip chrome before doin' anything. but I have grineded chrome and then put a coat of primer on it, and then painted it, a few times in the past.
