Wow, me too.
I didn't realize i have a "brother" in Florida, also "hoarding" carburetors, dual bbl. intakes, and related parts.
I must have 20 AFB's or so, on the bottom shelving, out in the garage, and more sitting on 3 factory, cast iron dual quad manifolds.
I have lots in common with you.
We must have gotten separated at birth. lol

EDIT
Back in the day, carburetors were only $15.00 each, for any type of carburetor, at the U-Pull-It wrecking yards.
That's why i have so many of them.
Cheap, and i could easily afford them, at that price.
I would buy all the AFB's, AVS's, that i could find.
Back in the day, stuff like this was easy to find.

I'v got a few more years than Brook James, as I'm at 70 years, now.

Great ! I've always had a "thing" for induction systems. I can't really explain it. There's not thing like the roar of a fat carburetor(s), plus I'm pretty old school at 65 yrs. Rusty Rat Rod nailed it when he said "a man can't have too many carburetors "

I just got these yesterday. No I don't need them but i wanted them. It's a sickness. I just love hoarding cool parts. And having spares and options for my car.

Better you get them and hoard them than they end up scrapped.

They ain’t making this stuff any more and seeing it go to the scrapper makes me sick.

All the old parts for our cars are in the hands of enthusiasts OR sitting in a field waiting for the old owner to kick the bucket so that his grandkids an put the rotted out old car on FB or CL as a GOOD project car for stupid $$$$$!!!!! :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead:  :BangHead::BangHead:

I have a bunch of stuff, most stuff leftover from repairs, upgrades and performance mods. Problem is I don't throw it out. I've been needing a tach for my Sister, thinking I had a couple in the "hoard" turns out they were trash...but as they say "you never know until you try".
I did however find the nut and washer I needed for my alternator to replace the plug on connection with a ring terminal the previous owner twisted and taped together.
Against my better judgement I did throw the tach's out. The trash truck doesn't come until Monday though...

There are some good reasons for our hording, our frugalism (is that a word?? If so did I spell it correctly FABO spelling cops?). Some of us are OLD. I am 75 and my parents were born in early to mid 1900s like in 1905 or so. So they went thru the Geart Depression, the real one. Frugale. Horders. Conservative. As a kid we drank out of jelly jars or Mason jars. When we were pooping in TALL ottonand had some Dixie cups. They did not throw them aay. They washed them and reused them over and over and over. Tin foil. When that came out, they used it, wiped it off, folded it up an used it again and again and again.

Wife makes the kids and friends homemade jams jelly preserves ( yes there is a difference). If the wife does not dive them stern instruction to be sure to save the Mason jars AND lids. we want them BACK for next season!!!! Chit costs $$$$$$$$$$$

Parts cost $$$$$$$$$$$.

What does all this have to do with hording????? Everything.

A buddy going through a rough stretch messaged me to see if I had any electric fuel pumps laying around. I still had three Holley blue pumps that I ran years ago. He came by last night and I gave those to him for free and a set of expired race seats belts for a cruiser he had. Slow but sure I’m weeding out some stuff. I probably have enough big block pushrods to be a distributor for summit. Lol

That's so ironic ..my buddy who built my shop just gave me a edelbrock 160 quiet pump....I was speechless..

Only thing that I hang onto that would be considered hoarding are fasteners and scraps/pieces of metal, alloy, sheet stock etc nuts, bolts, washers, brackets, anything ferrous Allen wrenches and flat stock style wrenches included in assemble yourself fixtures and furniture! I hoard beer too (fresh unopened of course)

As I was going through my first divorce (1999) I bought my first set of aluminum heads. (B1-BS) Now I would need a sheet of paper and pen to count them all. It’s crazy

You guys are pikers, I have at least 50 OEM high performance AFB, AVS, TQ, and one Mopar Quadrajet.

I'd hoard more but with even as little stuff as I have compared to some of you guys, moving SUCKS. Can't say for sure if I'll still be in the same house in the next 3-5 years since I work for a large corporation and these days the likelihood of getting legit raises and promotions staying in the same place is slim. The thought of acquiring more parts gives me anxiety thinking about having to move them all.
