Some may recall I bought a set of used Crower rods that had the Chevy .927 pin bores.

I took the rods to Baxter Engines who did my block and head work and they fired up their rod boring machine and made 'em fit my new pistons.

Plus they resized the rods. Didn't ask for that but it was a good idea.

Now I may try to do some of the oil mods on the block. Looks like the right side oil gallery was reamed out already. Going to tube the block and do a little more drilling.

Won' t get much done the next 30 days...getting a new knee next week.

Older style Crower... The newer style has threaded rod bolts and a slightly different contour on the beam.

When I showed a photo of those rods to member dart19666 (works for Crower) he said "WOW Those are OLD rods...but still good!".

About 1999-2003 vintage I believe. That works because my deal was originally built in '93 for the next race season.

Mighty stout lookin rod! Good luck with the new knee! Be prayin for you.

Three months after I drove from Pa to upper Michigan for my tube chassis Daytona a saw an ad in National Dragster for two 440 blocks, set of venolla (bad spelling) pistons, Crower Rods, 690 roller cam, 440-1 Indy heads, and a few other goodies in Virginia. With no truck the kids and I jumped in the motorhome to buy the stuff. This was my very first set of hypo rods running stock stuff up till then. I built a .055 (440) with the stuff and ran 8.60’s for years. Those rods treated me were and I bought new rod bolts (275.00) to use in my 572 years later and that another story for another day. I finally sold them a few years ago. Very nice rods.

Rods looks good. Hope the new knee rebuild goes as smooth. The docs now days have done so many that it's just another day at the office for those folks. And they are seasoned professionals. Keep us posted on your progress.

I have a bunch more pain now than ony first knee job. But that will pass too. Keeping off the oxy as much as possible.

I need a new left shoulder and the right fake one tuned up. Then theres the five herniated discs, stenosis and other stuff.

After starting out with a brave new engine plan it got scaled back a bunch. But it should be reliable and strong. I plan to touch up the valve guide bosses for a bit more flow. And use a larger cfm carb.

Thanks for the kind words on my health challenges. Get your **** done when you are young..
