As always; my money is on too much Idle timing, that results in the throttles being too far closed, that results in not enough transfer-slot exposure, which results in the Transfers taking too long to wake up.
------------------------------------------
And, just so you know;
I have been running nothing but 87E10 gas since 1999.
Yeah I read all that internet mumbo-jumbo about alcoholized gas, but for me, it just never materialized in real life, the way it did in the lab.
IMO, besides a short shelf-life when not stored correctly, there is nothing wrong with this gas. It took 23 years to rot out the rear jumper, and I think that was my fault as the rear axle vent was spewing gear-oil vapors onto it. I changed the front jumper at the same time, but not because it needed it.
The 750 DP carb just does not care.
Car went 93 in the Eighth on it, too, on the one and only successful run it ever made. Yeah and, I have run up to 195psi on that too.
So, to all you nay-sayers,
I guess,
our Canadian 87E10 gas is just not like your American skunk-pee, cuz if it was, I shoulddabeen on my third motor by now, lol.

Oh and, once the transfers are set right, all my three cams, have idled down to around 550/500 rpm in First-gear (manual-trans) and pulling themselves on hard level ground, with as little as 5*Idle-Timing; and they pulled away briskly without drama. Point being; not a one of those cams needed big Idle-Timing. The most I have ever run was 16*, and only for a short time, while hunting for the perfect Power-Timing. Typically she is in the window of 10>14. Except at cold-start, when she might be at up to 20 for a minute. I do this with a dash-mounted, dial-back, Timing module.
The three cams I have run were;
292/292/108; 270/276/110 my favorite; and the current 276/286/110. Pressure was always adjusted to at least 185psi, by decking and/or gasket thickness.
All three were happy with a transfer-slot adjusted to a little taller than wide. Idle-Speed was controlled with Idle-Timing and/or Idle-Air bypass, thru the throttle-blades. My engine has NEVER liked secondary throttle-cracking. and Believe it or not, the same 70s-era, plastic-bodied PCV has been on there since 1998; It works so, why mess with it.
BTW,
I am running OOTB Edelbrock alloy heads, and a 750DP on an Airgap. The Scr is currently around 11/1. My pistons are loose, the rings are tight, and the hydraulic lifters were last set to 1turn preload, but I have not reset them since about 2005, so yes they tic a lil, lol. But it's OK; With less exhaust duration, I get more power duration, and with a lil less intake duration, the overlap is is a lil less, so, taken together, this lets me run 65mph=2240 rpm, with a pretty reasonable fuel-economy. and 1.6 arms more than make up for the loss of lift due to modest lash. SSmall price to pay for a lil tic, right? Well, I thought so.
Yeah, I got the HD lifters. They're 20 years old now .......................
Just so you know.

PS, IDK,
some things you read on this Forum, I just don't know where that comes from.
One guy says I can't get 32mpgs from a 360.
Another guy says I can't go 93 in the Eighth@3457 pounds, with my tiny combo.
Another one thinks I can't go 32mpg and simultaneously go 106 at 3650, without even trying!
I get so much pushback.
One guy says he's got a lifetime of experience and I'm a liar.
Another guy says he builds engines, and intimates I'm a liar.
Another guy doesn't like me cuz I'm an outspoken Christian. Well my response is, if yur not, then what good are you to God? right?
It takes all kinds so, IDK, maybe half of what you read is useful, but, for those that mentioned Transfer-slot exposure, I agree with them. See what I did there?
Just so you know. I can't vouch for AJ's Opinion anymore. It seems the guy has gone off the rails and become a religious freak. OOps I did it again, lol
Happy HotRoding.
