hey guys, so heres the problem, car shut off on me today so i went out and lifted the hood, i noticed the primaries were dumping fuel and it was puddling up on top of the butterflies. so i lowered the float and hit the fuel pump and gas came out of the vent tube and still leaked from what appeared to be the boosters.... any ideas?

Sounds like trash is in the needle and seat.

Bad needle and seat or two high fuel pressure.....or both. Float lever is vary important!

"So I hit the pump" leads me to believe that you have an electric fuel pump - I assume you have a regulator, what is it set at? Electric fuel pumps can and will blow the needles off their seats at anything over 5 psi and dump fuel out the vents. You likely need to either lower your fuel pressure or have crap (dirt) stuck in the needle and seat assemblies.

Swapped the needle and seat, and it still pours fuel from the boosters in the primaries... Just to be clear its an 850 doible pumper

Well i pulled the bowl off and metering block, cleaned everything and put it back together, set float again, now shes back to tip top shape!! Thanks guys

6 PSI is probably on the high side for pressure, 5 is usually the limit and there can be some variation in the gauge as well.

I have to respectfully disagree with this. Most racers run around 7 psi, myself included.

Never had an issue on any of my cars.

Well thank you all for being respectful is all that I can say..5 psi is just based on what I was told and have run in the past. Clearly you can run higher pressure without issues. Thank you for the way info.

ProSystems did my 1050 and said to set fuel pressure at 7.25 psi.
