that's where hemitheus' idea about making a mold and running off some ABS ones is nice- it would make it easier to make some more:D


...anyone have a big 3D printer they're not using right now lol?

actually there is a place in Portland with a big enough vacuum form that thinks they can do it but I have to bring them a complete one first and I don't have that much cash right now lol they make tones of body parts for atvs, quads and drag cars
 
I like your idea surprising, know body thought about it before. Aluminum, cheap,light, polishes easy and durable. Great idea!
 
That is a work of art. An inspiration too. I was going to stick with a stock grille but I think I am going to take the plunge and try it.
 
For the "frame" what about abs plastic and a router/shaper? Where there are bends, a transition could be made with body filler and a profiling template.
 
I've never used a router on abs, just thinking out loud. Another material to consider is composite decking material. It routers nicely and is available in decent thickness.
 
How about making the middle 11 teeth an inch longer in height,since then it would come up to the bottom of your hood.Then you could slope down left and right to the 4 teeth on each side.One way or the other,It looks real cool!How about fabricating it first in cardboard,or foamboard,or balsawood,so it will be easier to work with.You will be able to figure out what to do with your diectionals with the easier working material.Good luck,your onto something.The new Chrysler corporation might be calling you,though.
 
A++ for creativity!! I'd really like to see this project work out for you! Save all your design plans & notes. You could really have something here!
 
That looks sooo much nicer than the stock grille, never did like the duster grille after 72. It changed the entire look of the car to a economy car look, cheap. You have done a tremendous job with that aluminum ! I like the 'plymouth' above the grille but really like the idea of making the middle section taller to fill the gap better. Full teeth looks sinister, "Plymouth" above it looks like a gum line in a big smile :) my humble opinion. Fantastic idea !!

You, Sir, are correct. I probably should have done a trial run in cardboard or something. The outer 4 teeth are about 1/2 inch shorter, but I should have made them an inch shorter because it's barely noticeable.
 
Imagination, talent and skill- that's what I can "Diversity."
 
I was going to try to describe an idea I had (where the horizontal slats inside the 'teeth' would mimic the shape of the original grille), but I couldn't think of a way to put it...so I did a quick photoshop instead.

not sure if you were even going to incorporate the slats anyways, but this was just something I came up with...
