Hood hinge play?

How much play should there be in A-body hood hinges when there is no hood attached? I stopped in to check on my 70 Duster at the body shop today. If you hold the main portion of the hinge, the upper hinge had quite a bit of play side to side (while holding the lower half of the hinge stationary). Is that normal?

Unfortunately Yes that's pretty normal...It's not the best designed hinge IMO

It's normal. If you rebuild them or get new ones they will do the same thing. The side play isn't there once a hood is bolted on.

Glad I used the search function! The hood is off of my '67 Dart right now, and the hinges are loose enough that you can really move them from side to side, I was wondering if something was wrong.

As a side question... When the hood is on and shut all the way, the passenger side rear corner of the hood, sticks up a good amount, while the other side is flush with the top of the fender. Does anyone know how to adjust this? I have no idea what I could do to fix that, or if it's possible?
