Hood hinge repair or replacement

Hi there, do you remember the length of the shocks for your hood? Did you just guess for the placement of the pivots? Thanks

Stroke length was 5 inches, the compressed length was 10 inches. I picked a point slightly above/in front of the lowest point of the hinge so it would not be over center. I tried various pressures and with my hood weight I used 180 pound shocks.

Lists all the parts and methods.
I attached to the hinge and let the bottom hang fully extended with the hood all the way up. Marked and drilled to attach the bottom. Yes I just guessed on length. It worked out for me.
14 and 15 inch struts but only mounted for 15 inch. That's what the the threaded rod was for... to lengthen the 14" struts to fit my holes for 15" struts...
