I've stayed in the Chambersburg area before, but this year I wanted to stay in a hotel closer to Carlisle.
Of course, I started looking about 2 weeks before Carlisle.
So, I found a non-smoking room at the Red Roof Inn on the Harrisburg Pike.
I chose the advance purchase rate, paid in full, and received a confirmation email on 7/1/14.
Friday night after the show, I walk up to the counter with confirmation number in hand, only to find out they CANCELLED my reservation the day after I made it...huh???
Red Roof Inn then claimed I cancelled it and they had already refunded my money...
Wait a minute??? Then why am I here for my room???
I pointed to the terms and conditions that states the room is prepaid and non cancellable, no refund or credit will be given.
So, they "found" me a room :evil3:
Pros:
-Bed was comfortable.
-Quiet location.
-Price was excellent for event weekend. ( about $120/night before taxes)
Cons:
-Loss of said reservation
-Smell of smoke in non-smoking room and bedding.
-Broken Ice Machine...
-No breakfast.
-Hotel and grounds show a lack of maintenance.
-No elevator to second floor rooms. (not a biggie, but worth mentioning)
So, if you've read this far, I'll be looking for someplace else for 2015...
Any recommendations for an affordable hotel that you have had a positive experience with? Or hotels to stay away from?
Thanks!
