Roots supercharger, ProCharger, and turbos are all accepted as just fine...
But let's say you're going to use the power outer nitrous and many balk at it...?..
I understand this is mostly from people who've never tried it...
Is it that they watch TV and movies and see it done on cars as if it's some kind of super easy thing to do?..
I fail to see how it can't help any car..
My biggest question is there anybody out there who has used it and has a negative opinion of it or is it just the people who haven't...

Ehrenberg once said " Get Real Get the Juice " lol

And David Frieburger says "NOS doesn't blow up engines, people do".

You don't have to refill turbo's and blowers.

Once you grenade two or three 10k engines from stuck solenoids you will understand. Turbos for the win!

Build a "real" motor you'll have no need for it..
Like this one...

Bahahaha...

Here's my take on nitrous, and this is from street racing back in the late 70s. It was just finding its way into street racing and wasn't as refined as it is today..
I don't think most guys new what to do with it and of course some did. I remember a little Vega wagon in the St. Louis area that was king of the street back then. Mid 12s on motor and low 10s on the bottle. I had a 69 Dart that had a 440 , auto and 488 gears. It ran 12. Os ,no bottle. Never got beat on the street. But from going to the track I new who not to race on the street. Anyway, guys that had nitrous would always lie and say , the bottle was empty or wouldn't use it or some BS. Guys would call me out for a race and crawl all over my car looking for nitrous, and they wouldn't use their's. I would tell them, if you got it you better use it. Non nitrous guys thought of nitrous guys as lying cheaters.

Your experience with nitrous is that you have blown up Motors? Two of them?...

Nope. My experience with nitrous is watching someone else’s nitrous engine eat up pistons in my rear view mirror.

So you've even dramatize this by adding a price tag of 10K to two different Motors?...lol...
So in this one instance did you talk to the guy and he had a stuck solenoid? And 10k in to the motor? Two of them? Same thing happened?...
Or is this you big shot talking about your turbos?...

My philosophy in life is no one needs a power adder LOL..
No one needs a race car and no one needs a performance car...
I think no one likes to take the bus...

I’m giving you **** cause it’s fun. But I’ll give you one circumstance. I was at irwindale on a t&t night not that long ago. 71 split bumper camaro in the other lane. He stuck a solenoid, ate two pistons. Tore the motor down in the pits, put two new slugs in it and did the same thing on the next pass a few hours later. I don’t hate nitrous. Use what ya got, but it seems a lot of guys burn their junk down with it because the learning curve is steep and people are greedy. Almost the same situation with boost. It is much better nowadays with electronic controls and knock sensors etc. Have fun.

Same thing happens on boosted stuff I personally stuck a wastegate (Chinese awesomeness) and watched the needle go to 24lbs before I could get off of it. The engine was tuned for 12lbs. Guess how that ended.

Well those are Chevy guys what did you expect! LOL... I'm sure anything could happen in any situation like you were alluding to like a blow off valve in your boost that lock shut? Unfortunately and totally giving you s*** as well I'll have to put you in the I've never tried it and I'm just talking crap category LOL...

We must have been posting at the same time lol...

I had to give stroked340 the big red X.
J par has a REAL motor, it's made many reliable passes.
His engine builder say's ring gaps are good and j par will be religious with the juice.
and if I know him the short block will be freshened after this season.

I never said I didn’t try it. I put a 100 shot on my 318 in high school. And it was still slow. And I had a sneaky Pete setup on a crotch rocket a long time ago. I’ve moved on to bigger and better things.

Because idiots put nitrous on stock motors that weren't intended to have that much power, then wonder why they blew up... :BangHead:

Personally I think I have a pretty good setup for it and have done all my homework and preparation. I was looking more for the stigma around it in this thread.... There's no other way of slicing it then it's just another one of several Power adders done in just another way. And I can reassure anyone that it's not just bolt a bottle in the trunk LOL...
If you mean by freshening the motor pulling it out and tossing on the Speedmaster heads then that might not happen till this winter the way things are going... If I'm happy with the small amounts the nitrous I may do things how to make it happier with more LOL..
But again I was looking for any reasoning behind the bad stigma nitrous gets....

I'm under the impression that pretty much any motor could take a hundred fifty shot... Of course done correctly...

It wears many hats. Cheating. Can't make real power,.blah, blah, blah. I think today the stigma is gone truthfully. To make big power with it is extremely technical.

Never met anyone who uses it not like it. They may have changed to a different power adder but still appreciate the instant power it provides...

My buddy Ron who regularly raced a Barracuda at Milan Dragaway used to tell me about how he always saw the ford guys put nitrous on their stock 5.0 Mustangs and then within 5-8 runs would blow the head gaskets... Duh... :realcrazy:

And those were the days before Fast-N-Furious...

LOL.... somehow I feel I started this thread. Anyways, I don't click on NOS threads but I was PM'd that I started this, so I clicked on it. I told that guy that I live in your head - rent free I might add. OK, I'll play :D
For most that scoff at cars on the juice feel about it like a sport player on the juice. I shouldn't need to say more, but everyone knows when a player is hitting the big time steroids, he's counted as a "cheat". If I have to explain further, you won't get it. Ok, I participated, I'm out - I (cough/gag) struggle to talk about NOS... LOL
