The Pantera was a joint effort from Ford and De Tomaso, the Italian car maker. They all had the 351C 4V engines and five speed transaxles. Some of them were pretty gnarly.
 
Dang.....somebody liked Hondas! I have a 94 Civic coupe that's just a beater, but about every other month when I have to stop and fill it up with gas, some saggy britches, hat backwards kid wants to buy it....lol. To me, it's a go kart with a heater and windshield wipers! To them, it's a sought after classic. Glad you got the chance to turn the cars and make some bucks.

Sold only by Lincoln Mercury Dealers.
Obviously a Ford Subsidiary.
My grandmother rented a multistory building to a Lincoln mercury dealer in Asheville NC. They had one in the showroom and 3 on the 4th floor they were there for several years after they filmed a movie. My brother-in-law just finished restoring one for a client

My wife’s uncle had a De Tomaso Mangusta the sister to the Pantera. I have always wanted one. I don’t think that’s ever gonna happen.

I'm sitting here trying to remember which building was the Lincoln-Mercury Dealer? It had to be one of those big, old timey buildings on Cox Ave. One of them still has Sawyer Motor Company engraved into the concrete on the front of the building. All of the car dealers used to be on Cox Ave. in Asheville when I was a kid. Small world!

Yeah cause they were "high end" and only the Lincoln Mercury dealers got them. I remember seeing a couple at Barney A Smith Lincoln Mercury in Macon back in the 70s. They were badass. Still are. But sadly Barney A Smith is long gone. Now there's like a "Rhino Line" joint in that building.
 
It was near the square? Actually, one of their Cadillac LaSalle’s is in the Grove Park Inn.

I believe it was Sam’s Lincoln Mercury
My grandmother got a new Lincoln mercury every year as part of the lease.
Love the internet.

Yeah....I remember it now! If I'm not mistaken, N. Market Street is the street with brick pavers still in place instead of asphalt. I'll make a trip thru there and see if I can remember which building it is. I don't go downtown anymore. Too many :realcrazy: people!

I've been known to flip a few, but I've done it right. I go through them, and fix what needs to be fixed, and done correctly. I speak in the past though, as I can't physically do repairs anymore, due to being an old bastard. It was the way to make money for projects I wanted, without any cost to my family life. I've owned quite a few in the last 10 years, and pasted along some nice rides. Camaro and Nova last year, safer to flip Chevy's, because the Mopars tend to stay too long. :)

I applaud anyone that puts in work and effort to pay for his toys!!
Many decades ago, I made the $ to pay for what I called my keepers by picking up the right old Mopar and flipping them, but that was way back!! A lot of good stories can be told. The hobby was fun on the 80s,90s, even onto the first of the 2000s!
Too bad I did not just keep all those good "keepers"!

A guy has to find modern cars with meat on the bone for sure, with NO issues and models people actually want! And live close enough to buyers.
I hate modern cars!!!!! :thumbsup: :steering:

I completely agree. We get along just fine without a lot of money. We always have. It gets really tight sometimes, but we keep pluggin along. I'm not sure we'd know what to do any other way. lol

I got it home a month ago. We finally got it unlocked. Pop a Lock. Once it was opened I got the key code off the glove box cylinder. I had an old time locksmith cut the key. His new 15K machine produced 2 duds. He kept the cylinder and cut the keys with an old machine and I guess files. They work like butter.
VDMV said there was not a title. After 5 weeks the title is on its way. Prelude is now at a shop. Hopefully it will be running and I can get tires and a detail. This may go on Bring A Trailer.
