How far do you guys drive to the track?

I drove a 68 Charger with a 383 BB for years with a 4:10 gear and always limited my RPM to 3000 on the interstate. At 3000 RPM my set up let me go about 69MPH... 70 down hill LOL!

I never had any problems. I kept my eye on the temp gauge however. Being on the back roads helps a lot.

I tell you.... to be able to drive to the drag strip and drive back ... nothing compares to that feeling I bet.
 
Nearest track is about 116 miles. But that is not the bad part of it all. It's traveling through New York City in traffic and paying tolls of outragous prices and poorer than poor roads.

The trip has taken me 3 hours at times.

And then they wonder why there so much street racing going on.
