I got into a argument with my brother. He says I have a problem because my car got up to 220 degrees. I drove it in a parade for 45 minutes and it was 90 degrees out. My car is a 12.5 to 1 C.R. cross rammed HEMI Dart. I think the car did good for the set-up I'm running. Hell, new cars run about that temp don't they? As soon as I drove the dart 2 miles temp shot down to 180.

I always learned that anything over 210-215 was pushing it in a regular driving situation at cruising speed, but with your engine set, the outside temp and being in the parade, i think your fine.

My brothers cuda did the same thing (maybe not 220 but highest i had seen yet in that car) sitting in traffic 80-90 outside, but once we got moving again temp went back to normal

As long as you have a good 50/50 mix of distilled water and antifreeze, 220 is no problem for the engine. Hoses, wiring, and other plastic items are more likely to be damaged by that temp than the engine.
