Diesels have 5 pinion planets. The difference in spline angles makes 1 planet fit like it should and when putting it on a different output shaft, it will fit loosely. DO NOT THINK IT MAY JUST BE WORN A LITTLE. IT WILL BREAK THE CENTER OUT OF IT.. ASK HOW I KNOW THIS. I think the early up to 1970 are the small outputs and small 4 pinion planet. After that , it may be the big planet and output shaft. i think 1971 was the change year. They went to part throttle kick down. Trans kits go from 62-70 and 71 up. that is 1 reason I think 1971 is break year.
