How many splines?

How many splines is the standard 8 3/4 rear axle? 30? Looking at some used axles, and want to make sure they are the right thing. The guy that has them was running them with a spool, I'll be using a 489 case 323 or 355 rear gear. Many thanks Neil

Yes, stock 8 3/4 rears use 30 spline axles. Spools can be gotten with 30 or 35 spline.

Also, if they are from an A-body housing, there can be 2 different bearing locations and drum registers. One is for use with the OEM brakes (10"x1 3/4" -? & small drum register) and the other must be used with the standard E and B-body brakes (10"x2" large drum register).
