My 340 with 3:23 gears get close to that average, better if I keep my foot out of it, sometimes up to 19.
I don't think the total length is as important as the spring perches would be. Get a measurement, grind them off and move them into the correct locations and weld then back on the tubes. It may even help for tire clearance.The Dodge Coronet 8 3/4 is only 1" longer than the A-body 8 3/4.
I have a 4.56:1 rear posi punkin that I would swap for the higher gears. straight across trade. My daughter loves my Duster, but wants mileage instead of hp. I'm in southern California and for medical reasons can't leave the area. barry91765 at g maleIf you're putting a B-body rearend in an A-body your going to need to narrow it a bit and probably buy some new axles at that time.
