How To Attach Photos In "Conversation"?

Does anyone know how to attach photos in a Direct Message/Conversation? I am able to see the option to "Attach Photos" in an actual thread, but the option does not appear to be available in the "Conversations" dialogue. I am trying to provide images of parts to another forum member.

Pretty sure you have to have a "Gold Membership" to do that.
