Hey all I have a 67 notchback that can’t seem to figure out why the backup lights won’t stay on. It is a four speed and curious it might be the switch in the trans. How to do you check to see if it is working correctly. The lights come on than go out I want to at least be able to start with this switch and work my way back through the rest of the system
Thanks in advance

When you install the correct switch, check continuity through the switch when in reverse. If you have juice then the problem is between there and the bulb.

Now that you guys have identified the switch I have another stupid question to ask. When install the correct switch will it drain the oil out of the four speed? If so can you Jack up the car a certain way to help with this?
thanks
Pat

I'm sure you will lose some, just be quick. Get ready, get into a comfortable position, get ready to stick your finger over the hole etc etc.
