how to stop gas pump handle nozzle from spilling gas

how do I fill the tank completely without it spilling out on the fender? Also anyone have a link to the neoprene bushing adapter going into the filler neck to reduce the hole to fit modern pump nozzles? thank you for your time. RR
 
I've been putting a rag around the nozzle and pumping slow until it shuts off. thats it no more gas once it clicks off. damn gas still drips and is screwing up my paint.

there's an adapter to fit the newer nozzels? like to see that
 
My Dart spills out no matter how slowly I add fuel. I'd like to know this also.
 
I learned to listen to the change in the sound of the air escaping as the tank got fuller, I know it probably sounds weird but I finally learned to stop it before it spilled. Then I just had to stop the gas jockeys from insisting that I wasn't allowed to pump my own. I had too many of them spill gas down the side of my car too many times, plus dropping my painted cap on the concrete, yeah, nobody touched my car at the gas station.

check the vent tube on the filler neck, may not be connected or might be obstructed

What old holey socks are for. Put in filler, insert nozzle, tightly like you first girl friend. Then it will build the backpressure to kick off. Throw sock in garbage...
 
I'm going to buy a later model short 2" filler neck for another application with the flapper valve. Cut the valve out of the neck on either side of it. Cut my Valiant filler neck and weld the flapper door in. I may also up size the original vent line on the filler neck, too. We'll see. That way, there won't be any openings around the flapper door for gas to still get around and slop all over the car.
 
I just turn the nozzle upside down put the gas handle on the lowest notch and wait to hear the gurgle.

One time in 20 it might spit up a little. Nothing like my 2010 Ram does.

Even GM owners have to do it.

Same problem here, and use a rag too.
Additional problem was I was doing some touchup painting myself.
And, after discolorating began on the fender below the gas cap area, I had to repaint.
**This time I used a 2-part clearcoat that resists gasoline. (Not a one phase paint)
There are several good brands out there.
