Hurst competition plus vs OEM hurst?

-
I bought a aftermarket hurst shifter for my 4-speed duster years ago -80's. The pictures above show what it looked like. It was advertised with shorter throws and the short chrome handle. I can't remember if it was called a comp plus or super street shifter. I like the factory shifter better. Sent it to Hurst years ago for a rebuild and it works great like most factory stuff.

Here is some more info from the Hurst web site under FAQ

Why doesn’t my new Hurst Competition Plus fit my OEM linkage? My car originally came with a Hurst Shifter.

Hurst originally supplied only the shifters to the big three – made to their specifications. Hurst did not supply the linkage. OEM linkage is frequently smaller in diameter and/or the shifter is mounted in a slightly different location, making the Hurst aftermarket shifters and linkage incompatible with OEM shifters, linkage and mounting plates.

What is the difference between the Hurst Competition Plus shifter and the Street Super Shifter?

While both shifters use the same legendary Hurst mechanism, the Competition Plus uses mounting hardware and an appropriately shaped stick handle to locate the shifter into the vehicle’s stock location or console. The Super Shifter is a “no holds barred” shifter, and uses straight linkage rods to minimize rod flex during hard shifts. The Super Shifter makes no modifications to the mounting hardware and will not fit into factory consoles; they typically mount high and at the end of the tailshaft to use the straight linkage rods. Super Shifter also utilizes a short 7 1/2 inch stick to keep the throws as short as possible.

My son apparently has the supershifter.. - "the the ONLY difference in the between the competition plus and the supershifter2(etc) is the reverse lockout that requires you to push down to get into the reverse gate."

THANK YOU. ............"Super Shifter" is what I was missing. Yes

I like the CP because of the stops, you don't over throw the shift when hammering on your car. Its saves the forks on the inside of the trans and other parts.

That might be another point.........the reverse lockout for a CP is a completely separate add on.......and can be added right onto a CP

That would be an add-on to a C+ to add a lock-out.. Supershifter just has the usual single lever that pushes down for rev..

Yes.........my point was I guess that someone could mistake one if assembled. I bought one for my 70 in about ?72.

Update——— A local friend of mine actually has a B body OEM shifter. It has the 6353 lever etc that I need I think for my A body.... I think. :).
Anyway, it’s a stab in style handle. I have a real nice A body bolt in style. Can I keep my bolt in style mechanism and put it in his OEM unit? His is priced right if you know what I mean. This fiasco is tiring but I appreciate your help! Thanks.

In other words put my shift lever piece in his unit that should work.

According to Brewer´s, Yes...

I think it will too. But ... never say never or never say “ confirmed” in Mopar land.
