Yes, much easier in reverse pattern than forward.

second gear, just pull back

third gear, pull lever and then back

316 0002. according to instruction page, it operates both ways but as the pictures show, a reverse pattern is easier.
and the number is the shifter itself, the box is 316 0004, instructions copyright 1982.
