I'm in the process of building a magnum/la 360 and am going to use a set of new oem hydraulic roller lifters I have. When washing the lifter tie bars that keep them from rotating, I notice that some are stamped with a 1 and some a 2 and some a 3. Very quickly fitting them all on a lifter, I can determine no real difference or looseness. Is there method to this madness or is it just production numbers randomly showing up?

Seams random in all the Magnums I have had apart. Just make sure they are clean with no damage and don’t worry about those numbers.

My guess is that the number indicates which hole of a multi-die tool they were stamped from. Helps when parts start being out of tolerance so you know where to look. Very common in gang molds too.

Thank you, that seems reasonable and I took your advice and they're on.
