This isn't a truck towing a trailer. This is a slot on an 8 or 9-car tractor trailer.

I bet it takes a while to organize a load and I bet the price changes with where they have to go to pick them all up and drop them all off. You could buy 8 at Meecum and haul them all to one place and it would be quite reasonable.

It's also normal. Costs fluctuate, things change. My first quote from reliable was $2400 for the same trip, two days later it was $1850, the next it was $2175 - the actual cost on the day the car is accepted is the only 'valid' cost and most carrier contracts state the same. I went with affordable two days later, who's quote did not change, but their schedule sure did. It's pretty normal based on my experiences with contract shippers.
I'd review your contract to see if that was spelled out before hand. If not, your frustration is warranted. If it was, you might be getting stressed over 'nothing'.

Bingo. The contracts often state as much. The only valid bid is the one on the day of pickup. If you can fill a trailer (myself and a buddy did it when we moved 5 years ago, 3 cars, 2 bikes in an enclosed trailer) the price drops considerably. Same trip back then would have been $1800 per car, but in the end it was more like $950 ea, or about $4800 for all 5 (because it was a single load single drop.

I give up at this point, you’ve had several guys offer you a way out of this jam and you basically spit in their faces with this whole temper tantrum. If you wanna flush the money down the tube, that’s your call. Just stop whining about it when you are determined to ignore anyone’s offer to help you.
Geez, in today’s world, **** changes daily. I highly doubt the shipper is trying to pull one over on you. Fuel prices are crazy right now for one. We’re a 500 million dollar a year company and we just had our number one shipper drop us simply due to the cost of shipping from Indiana to San Fran.

I've basically given up, too; I'm essentially going through the motions now. I can't do anything now, because I have a contract for pickup tomorrow. If that falls through, I may accept an offer here.
Someone will get a good deal on a Swinger.

$2300 to transport a car 3000mi seems VERY reasonable to me, given today's fuel prices.
I just got a quote from an enclosed shipper from Florida to Wisconsin for $2,300....
Members have offered to help. Get the car to one of them and give yourself some time for plan B. Gas prices/shipping may drop some. If it doesn't work out

So many offers of help and solutions, yet the OP insists the situation is hopeless. I’m thinking he never wanted the car in the first place and was just looking for a way out. Why even post the thread at all?

I’m in Kansas City, I’d be willing to fly to Denver pick it up from a fellow FABO member, drive it to St. Louis, meet another member going farther East and fly home.

Brokers. There are the companies that own their own trucks or have contract driver, that can quote a price. God for usually 24 hrs.
Then there are the brokers that give a price and then look for a hauler. Many times they "can't" find a hauler to do the job for the prie they quoted. BS.
In this age of stupid fuel $ getting any price for more than 24 hrs would be tough???

Oh, I'm sure I'll regret it, no matter what I do. First mistake was buying the car. Second was actually believing a single word anyone said. Third was accepting the current shipping price. Fourth was not just walking away before now. Fifth was deciding to not start pouring booze down my throat and spend yesterday, today, all weekend, and probably most of next week in a stupor.

I don't care what quote you got, 2300 to transport a car from the West coast to the East cost isn't unreasonable.....
People transport cars every day, some companies are very reputable and some are not
You want top service no BS your going to pay which brings me to the next point, before you bought this car how many shippers did you contact for prices?
If you didnt like they way one shipper did business, there has to be more than a dozen others you could call.
Did you weigh the cost of having guys here help you? What about the fuel they use? The difference between guys helping you here and hiring a transport company is insignificant.
Hire a reputable company, get the car home... End of story
Come on, man. We've reached out and sincerely tried to help, but you're so damn negative it's hard to stay on your side. Do you want the car or not? I get it, you're tied to a contract or whatever, but how about we talk about plan B, C, D, etc..? Try to stay positive....we are all just trying to help you.
