I guess I may make it to the Halloween Classic

Ran another 6.056 yesterday. I’m not taking my time trial today as I’m not in a race today. Calling for one inch of rain tomorrow. This is the big race which really sucks because if it does rain they have a drawling in the tent one races on Sunday on is done. I’ve been on the done end before and it sucks. With 1200 plus cars they have to cut that number in half to get the race in.

Fingers crossed the weather clears and you get to run.

Well a long time friend asked me if I would check out his Edelbrock heads that were ported by a friend. He thought he put 2.055 valves in but was sure. I pulled an intake and exhaust valve and they have well worn 2.02 valves in them. You can look in from the valve seat and see he hit the common wall and pinch about 1.5 inches into the port. So I got another job porting these and whatever intake he decides to go with. Another Facebook friend I never met and friend of my son’s introduced himself (Chevy guy) and he has a set of big block Mopar Edelbrock heads with a couple of bent valves that he is supposed to bring to the track for me to look at. I may be buying a set of damaged heads.

My friends rented a suit at Norwalk this week as their sponsor was supposed to to come for the first time. Well they couldn’t come and my friends had to recover some of the 1000’s they spent. So they sold four day passes for 150.00 each. Well my son bought one for me. It’s not something I would ever spend money on but having my son buy me one I will be using it. Here’s a few pictures of inside and the view.

Well I missed the deal on the big block Edelbrock heads as a friend of mine zoomed in and both them. 700.00 with Harland Sharp rockers.

I haven’t been attending any all mopar events in probably 5-6 years. I see a lot of my Mopar friends weekly at my home track and scattered around at some of the big money events. At this event you see so many Mopar friends that it isn’t funny. The trouble is finding them scattered around the usually 1200 plus cars. One of the guys I really wanted to see that was going rounds Thursday night won 4th round and thinks he broke his crank. He loaded up and left. The friend that bought the set of Edelbrock heads I was interested in broke in the water box 3rd round last night and is missing a pushrod and a few other parts. He missed out on a mega block and balanced assembly I sold and kicks himself. It’s hard to explain just how many race cars are here.

I wish there were more Mopar only events here in Texas. Other than the Mopar mini nationals in the Dallas area, they seemed to have disappeared.

Bill Bader being Bill Bader. I showed you guys the forecasted weather and right now we have a small dry window. Bill just announced they are getting the track dryer (jet) on the track and we may run 330 feet. Yep I said it. Sure better than drawing first round in the tent. Lol heck some of these guys do 330 foot burnouts.

Bill bader is the man

Well he tried and tried hard. It started raining again as we knew it was going to, but he tried. We are heading to the tent soon to draw first round only to cut the field in half. Got to do it as there are just to many car to run in one day.

Well In the drawing I was picked to go up against a friend. He left for the hotel so it was my call. Right lane screwed me again. So technically in 5 races at Norwalk this year I didn’t win one round of competition. I couldn’t even win a 50/50 drawing. Lol. I can blame the tree being screwed up for two of them and was so pissed off that weekend I gave my 200.00 Sunday entry to my son. Well hopefully it’s dry so I can unload the car and load up my quad then race car. I wish I would have done it last night.

Man this stinks so bad. People work hard setting up Halloween displays to be judged and kids go trick or treating at the 1200 plus racers trailers scattered around the track. People even bring their kids in from town. Total bummer for the kids. Wheelie contest of course also canceled brings 1000’s into the stands.

Bummer! Biggest race of the year. I'm sad for everybody involved. This year has been a crap-shoot for weather, day to day.

Well my buddy Tim says the traction was ok at Norwalk all weekend long clicking the 60 foot timers off with his rear tires at 1.37 and running some nice 5.80’s.

Is that Tim Bowman?

Tim Lurks here and I’ve tried to get him to post but he like I after being in the sport so long kinda speak our minds. Not the best thing for a businessman to do if he wants to keep customers. He has a lot of knowledge trapped between those two ears. Some people can’t handle the truth. Lol
