a guy was telling me how he shimmed out his transmission on his 57 chevy.instead of buying the correct spacer,that goes all around the transmission,he used washers on the bolts to shim 1/4". he has restored 4 really nice chevys,so this kind of threw me off.i had to laugh

I wouldn't be relying on that car to actually drive anywhere.
You watch, he's going to have a major trans fluid leak as well as a destroyed pump and converter before very much run time.
