You start to notice a cool snap in the air, and the aromas of a burgeoning Fall season.

Anymore, down here it's hot as hell or not quite as hot season. Oh yea, run for your life season, too. Right before not quite hot as hell season.

I could use more Summer, it has done nothing but rained it seems like every weekend this summer.

Meanwhile here in the Pacific Northwest on south Vancouver Island it has only barely rained 1 night all summer with no daytime percipitation , the night it rained was after 54 days no percipitation .

Average annual including snow is 148 days -27.8 inches not this year eh !

You forgot about tourist season and snowbird season.

Thanks to Irma the tourist season may be cancelled. Hang in there people and be safe. Possessions can be replaced but people can't.

It's funny how fall and spring are so similar, yet I like spring waaaay more. And I'd be real glad not to ever have to endure another winter. Then there are those hot 28+ summer days that drive me indoors. Criminey I dislike this getting older bit. I'll be happy when it's over, and they throw my cold, hard, lifeless carcass, into the ground. I hope it happens in spring, after the frost is come up and gone. Or in fall, after school starts, while the multi-colored leaves yet wave in the breeze.

No way,man happy as a hummingbird at the feeder. I'm just marking time in this old world waiting to escape to the New Kingdom. Unfortunately I'm only 64 so I might have to endure another 20 or 30 more stinking cold winters on this crummy falling apart, dying old world. I have a feeling it will die before I do,lol.

i hear you brother, we had dinner with some people from church the other day, including a man who served as a seabee in WWII
you think your aching for the Kingdom... he is 92, he's buried a wife and two sons, talk about a man who is ready to graduate into Glory

on a completely different note, i seen a hummingbird today
and a turtle
and a tree, you wouldnt believe it, this tree was growing on the property line between me and my neighbors, and it somehow got split in half with one half over on my side, the other on my neighbors
let me see if i can find a pic of it

Here in the N end of Idaho it's more than 10, maybe 15 degrees above the "normal average" AND THAT IS WITHOUT the sun, as it's just an orange glow in the smoky hazy sky!!! So smoky here that you really should drive with headlights on

How do seeds and plants and trees, know which direction is up?
If you answer "gravity",then you must assume plants were created by God, knowing a little bit about something they don't have a brain to know anything about, right? Why not go straight to the obvious; God created them to know which way is up. They are ,as are we,fearfully and wonderfully created. At least there's no doubt in my mind about that. I like to think they are reaching out to heaven, as that first little leaf breaks out under the firmament and says"here I am Lord, thank you for giving me life", then it's little leaf breaks open, as tho unfolding it's praying palms, and spreads them apart, like I imagine Moses at the parting of the sea. I love that picture.
How do things in eggs, know when it's time to bust outta that prison?
How does a butterfly larva know when to build it's cocoon?
How does a baby know when it's time to be born?
How is that when I ponder these thoughts I cannot help but reflect on the awesomeness of the One who planted me in my mother's womb, and endowed me with the strength and stamina and health, and the desire to swim harder, faster, and longer to reach the goal, first. I was a God-created winner from before the beginning.
And so is everyone reading this.
When I ponder on longevity and recall that most of my ancestors were long-lived, and died peacefully in their sleep, still healthy, just full of years; then I realize that I have only recently entered my third "trimester". So as we enter fall, and the colors explode, I am reminded that I am in the fall of my allotted years. May the Lord God Almighty bless me and keep me healthy right until my last breath, like my ancestors; and may the blessing extend to all of you out there, whose names are written in the Book of Life, amen.

There's a few people that don't know which way is up as well.

Quite the diatribe there AJ , it's based on an erroneus premise tho , plants don't grow "up" they grow towards primary light and outdoor plants track the sun .Put gro-lights on the wall and your plants will grow sideways , put them on the floor they will grow down .It's all about a chemical reaction triggered by solar energy called Photosynthesis .But hey enjoy your day eh only 10 more months till spring there in Manitoba !

diymirage, you changed your picture. I almost didn't recognize you.

correct, i had that picture of the barracuda up from when i first joined...before i even owned an A body
(that was actually a picture of a model i had build years ago)

last time i went to visit my parents in the Netherlands i picked up that banner
it represents the province i was born in, and i took that pic to show my parents
thought it would look cool on here too

this is what the province (like a state) flag looks like...it was first used in the middle ages and is the oldest of all Dutch flags
