My daughter had a metal lawn ornament miniature dachshund on her front porch that was looking pretty rough. I offered to take it home and sandblast it and powder coated for her. I got a wild hair up my butt, and did it in three colors and clear coated it Oscar has never looked so good.

I thought this was gonna be about cruelty to animals.

Ha Ha. Not with me. I am an animal lover. Especially Miniature Dachshunds. We have two now (below) and have had five others in the past. The thing about Miniature Dachshunds is that they have a tendency to train their humans. Ours have us very well trained.

My dad passed away in 2016. Back in the mid-70's, we'd visit his parents. His dad had his "man cave" in the basement. I remember the turtle shaped ash tray his dad used for his cigars. When Dad's father passed about 20 years ago, he inherited that turtle ash tray. However, it had rusted terribly over the years. My Dad asked me if I could "restore" It. I sand blasted it and powder coated it with a "gold vein" powder coating. He loved it. He put loose change in it overnight, but never used it as an ashtray. When he passed in 2016, us kids were respectful when it came to the fact there was no legal will. The only thing I asked for was that turtle ash tray. Just let me say, I can relate. (The ashtray is in storage, otherwise I'd take a picture and post it.)

Awsome, i love it! I seen this lawn ornament on line and would love to find one for myself, I'm on miniature Dacshund number two, amazing loyal friends!

My wife repairs and refinishes all types of lawn ornaments. We have probably close to 200 in the house and yard currently. They range from very small rabbits, kittens and puppies to a 17 foot long steam train made of concrete. Lots of statues of children playing, gnomes, Christmas figures, etc.

I'd love to see some pictures.

The first pic is of Hank the day he got paroled.

The second pic is Hank and Dolly in time out in the shop for eating zip ties.
