I think my tranny is leaking

every time I take it out for a drive theres a spot in the driveway right where the transmission drain hole is, i changed the oil last year and put that bolt in tight and used plumbing tape on the threads. its an old 4 speed, the one without the sliding yoke, dont know if that makes a difference, but I was wondering what this puddle of whatever is, I imagine it would be the transmission.

The best way to tell is clean everything off real well. Then Run it around & recheck it making sure it's not coming from somewhere higher up.
