Came across this locally. It's a Ford 9" setup for road racing and looks very exotic. Is this like a Full Floater or Grand National type rear end? I've looked at Curry and all of the other rear end web sites and see similar looking setups but haven't found one with an axel/brakes setup quiet like this one.

Can anybody identify it?

Thanks

Looks like a phord 9".

some kind of 4 or 8 lug disc brake 4 link (?) ford something or other monstrosity. are you going to stick this under your valiant ?

Yes, it's a Ford 9". That much I know. It came out of some fox body road racer. I'm considering using it for my Valiant but want to know what the heck the thing is especially the disc brake, weird looking outer hub side of things. May be more trouble than it's worth but it looks to be built like a tank.

it is a monster thats for sure. it looks to me like it would cost a fortune to rework it for an A body, it doesnt appear to have calipers. but who knows.....

You absolutely sure it's a 9? Ferd made an 8" that is very similar, as well as a larger on (big Linc) 9 1/2?.

To separate the 8" from the 9", there's one bolt below the pinion. IF you can get a socket and extension on the bottom bolt, it's an 8, not a 9. The 9" requires a combo wrench on the one bolt.

To me that thing looks like a LOT of hard work. You'll have to remove all the 4 link junk, and I have no idea what you'll need to do with those hubs. Looks like a lot of trouble. Hope you didn't pay much for it.

Thanks for all the feedback folks.
Digging around on the web it appears this thing may be a "full floater" setup. It's probabably a killer setup for a stang and at a decent price ($300) but too much trouble for my skill level. I didn't buy it just was considering it.
