Identifying this 440

Hi there I recently picked up this 76 cast date 440 engine. I'm trying to figure out if it was a truck or motor home engine I do have the heads if those help I.d. it. Also any other advise or specs for it are welcome gonna be putting it in a 72 dart swinger.

I believe the "T" 440 indicates it was a truck 440 engine.
 
Isn't the 440-3 in the casting "means" it's a dash 3 engine, AKA truck/ motorhome?

BUT that is not a heavy truck water pump setup. They bolt to ports in the ends of the heads, which are completely different from a car/ light truck
 
What you've got there is a '77 truck engine, which doesn't make a lick of difference if you're going through it anyhow. Per Chrysler: 7T440E = 1977 Truck 440 with cast crank (E). The pan bears out the truck part, and the crank's parting line identifies it as a cast unit (which you'll never hurt, so don't sweat it).

You'll want to replace those pistons. When I checked my distance at TDC and CCed my heads, my '76 CB300 engine turned out to have a near-7.0:1 static compression ratio as built by Chrysler. Since mine was ultra-low-mile, I was hoping to not replace the pistons. I couldn't comfortably mill the heads or deck far enough to make those slugs worthwhile.
 
"7T" should mean it was put in in 1977 and was a Trenton Engine according to the Decoder
 
Ok thanks for the info everyone it did bother me that the flat top pistons looked like some notched them
 
The notches are just to indicate "to the front of the motor."
And if they are as far down in the hole as we suspect, the seven to one compression ratio guess is accurate. If you want performance from that thing, figure on new pistons, ..... or a couple turbos.
And the -3 in the casting number just means the third casting core set, or revision. I've seen up to -12.
