Hello FABO,

Coming on here to ask if any of you guys know how to properly ID an 11 backing plate as a SBP or BBP backing plate? I just want to know before i purchase any new drums.

Thank you

Ethan

There aren’t any SBP 11” drums

Back plates they have 3 different sizes
11x2
11x2 1/2
11x3

Are you measuring the backing plate straight across from edge to edge? FYI, the measurement of 10 or 11" comes from the drum not the backing plate. If you measure edge to edge and it is 11" then that is for a 10" drum. You may have small bolt pattern 10" drums, otherwise, if BBP look hear at post #8.

Also, if you have a set of 10" backing plates without any hardware, shoes etc you can measure those to determine if they're BBP 10" backing plates or SBP 10" backing plates. BBP plates will measure 1.75", they're 10x2.5" and have the same axle flange offset as the 11x2.5" brakes so you get the same measurement. The SBP 10" backing plates will measure roughly 1.25"
