A couple of things here. I once was told that timing had to advance per 1000 feet of sea level. Is this true. I recently went to an electronic ignition system...is timing the same as with the points and condensor, and lastly, I have found a discrepancy in manuals, one says 5btc and the other 2 1/2 ATC ....can some one please tell me the correct setting for a 273 cid...electronic ignition upgrade at 2600 feet?
Thanks in advance!

This thread will fill up fast.
For perfect timing, disc the vacuum. have a vacuum gauge to ported. when highest vacuum is reached, lock dist down. Take the reading from timing light, while you did this (how much advanced), then modify dist advance, to keep total at about 36 degrees at full throttle. Then re-hook vacuum, that will shoot it up to about 52 degrees at coast, but that is what the engine wants.
