I gotcha. I'm actually from Metamora. My car came from Pekin though. You had to have seen it at some point. It used to sit on Sheridan just up the little hill.sorry to hear that. haha. im originally from across the river from peoria. moved to kcmo 10yrs ago. left illinois 15 or more. been in and out over there to visit. miss my la gondola and mickies pizza though. just heard they closed the n pekin mickies. gotta find the other one when i go back in the spring.
My Demon also spent a few years in Edwards, which I think is about 10 minutes from you lolSame here out by Norwood.

Im from Monee about 7 miles from Park Forest. My wife's family still in Park Forest. NOT what it was in the 70s and early 80s. I used to work at the Sears Auto Center there, '87-90. then went to work for a while at South Oak Dodge. Now live in Kankakee County out west of Kankakee. (been in this house since 98) and work as a mechanic for this miserable state.Originally from Moline, grew up in Park Forest. Now live in Atlanta.
I sure wouldn't want to go back to monee nowadays.I'm still here. And still from Park Forest. My Mom when she moved back up from Florida lived in Monee just outside of the downtown. When I was visiting sometimes I'd see a Maroon and black 62 Imperial LeBaron driving around. One time I saw him at the Post Office and had just enough time to say Love the Car before he took off.
Ya I miss being up that way but I'd sure never live there again. Great place to grow up in the 70s and 80s. Sears and the auto center are long gone, and they've turned the Plaza into a little town center. Very weird. Roads go right through it now.
You're not missing much. Trust me.I grew up in West Lincolnwood, a couple blocks from Rt 30. The whole place is heartbreaking. I feel bad that RE is closed, that's where I went to high school. Park Forest has such high taxes and the present governor of the state seems like a crook. Glad I'm out of there.
