IM surprised by Richard Holdeners 360 Magnum camshaft swap.......

There's alot of Hullabaloo on You Tube. I once worked framing constrauction with a body builder who couldn't lift a sheet of 3/4 inch tongue and groove plywood. It was funny a skinny 18 yo guy like me had to gat down off the first deck and push the plywood up cause roid buy couldnt do it. Taught me to never believe anything you hear and half of what ya see...

I wonder what I can expect.
 
The 268/.485 spec cams have been used for all applications for years. I put one in my 454 Chevy powered tool truck years ago. In an engine that big you couldn't even tell it was bigger than stock specs. If you put that cam in a 360 it's a RV cam. You put it in a 318 and it's a hot street cam, and you put it in a 273 and it will idle like a top fueler! :thumbsup:

Aren't you using a Isky E4 ? Short on lift but not too different on other specs

I bought that Lunati grind specifically to avoid machining the valve guides.

I didn't notice in that vid (it's been a while since I've watched it) if he says whether he needed to do that.

I have either running 318 roller or a 100K 5.9 with a slight rod knock to put that cam in, neither of which I'm keen to do a lot of machine work on unless absolutely necessary.

The factory cams are pretty limp wristed and a pretty mild aftermarket cam can do wonders. Those 360's were basically tractor engines for trucks.
 
...but again 245 NET HP through 3.92 gears moves a 4200 pound truck pretty well.

How about tractor/truck motor
400 net , with a 150 shot of gas, that you pull apart at 100,000 miles and it still has the factory hone marks,
In a 3300 lb A body with 3.91's. Lol
