ok, I just picked up a A833 4spd from an abody...but I got problems.

the tranny came disassembled and I got parts missing.

the first part of my question is can some one give me a better ID then just a a body 4 speed?

the numbers off the main case are: C99129 and PP8335333

the numbers off the tail are: c13212-3 with an XS under them

is this even nessary for me to get correct parts?

I did a search on here and it came back with some good info but I want to find a place that I can order parts from. also is there a good clear scan of the exploded diagram anywhere? and also can someone give me the discriptions of the number on the exploded diagram?

I think I got most of the big stuff but I am missing the input shaft retainer and the rod that holds the large gear cluster in place.

thanks for the help in advance!
Daniel

Your 833 tranny is out of a 76 mopar as the 10,000 day calender date of 5333 is toward the end of the 76 year,as a refernce, june 31 1974 is 4720.It is a 833 so it is a four speed and not a OD unit.Does it have a vin number stamped above or below the PP833 number,if so post it,if not,its a replacement tranny. The PP is for new process.Check for a 8 digit number ,which is the last numbers of the vin,and a four digit number after 5333 which will be the sequence number for that built of tranny that day.You should measure your front bearing retainer diameter to see the spec and compare it to the spec on the year one web site, this helps to ID the tranny, mrmopartech

well, that is part of my problem...I don't have the front bearing retainer so I am wanting to start with the ID of the year of the tranny. I will count the splines of the input shaft tomorrow and that might push me in a direction. I also need to find a better more readable exploded view of the tranny that can give me a little direction to figure out which gear is which...

also, I am running a 904 right now will the slip yoke work on this tranny? if not is there a parts house I can get this stuff from?

ok, I made some progress...

the input shaft is 23 spline, no surprise there.

I also found a better exploded view in my repair manual and I am missing #46, #45, #47, #48, #49, #50, #54, #53, #52, and all the stuff associated with the input shaft retainer.

basicly everything that holds the countershaft cluster gear in place. the cluster gear also looks like it needs replaced from pitting.

but, I am moving in a direction. I am just comming up with very little info on this trannies internals like ID's of gears and writups of assembly.

ok, I made alot of progress in about an hour today...my last post was wrong.

I did a trial fit of all the gears using some picks and some common sence and have found what I need.

the bearing retainer has a 4.16" bolt spread and it looks like a 4.807" OD bearing retainer was used before so I now know what retainer I need.

also this IS an OD unit. the front part of the output shaft that mates to the input shaft is small and the OD gear is small. also after reading the /6 page on A833's it says all 4 spds after 75 are OD units.

now to my big issue:

I have 2 pieces missing...

#16 - 1st & 2nd clutch sleeve gear
#38 - clutch gear (OD & 3rd)

the rest of the stuff I am missing I can buy from Brewers. does anyone know of a place I can buy these two pieces?
