Incredibly interesting tonight on PBS about the "Ghost Army" of WWII. Now, I knew about the fakery in England which was supposed to throw the Germans off as to the Normandy invasion, but it turns out these "ghost" operations went a LOT deeper than that, and into Europe, with fake inflatable trucks and tanks, audio recordings of equipment and troop activity, and fake radio messages to convince the enemy.

VERY VERY interesting.
 
We'll likely never know all the cool stuff they did to win that war. Thanks for sharin.
 
this UK ghost Army was created to make the german army think the invasion is taking place in a different spot. The smallest distance over the channel. Secret service did a great job here. And the taken route was not the easiest thats why the germans never expected the invasion there.

But making those kinda "tricks" to show a bigger army or an army somewhere else is very common very before the greeks and romanian reich ;-)
