Bought these 4 or 5 yrs ago from a guy who bought them from Indy 22 years ago. still in the boxes they were shipped in. Have a decent idea what they are but looking for more info. Have a chance of using them. Indy tried but offered no solid info. Anyone have any leads ? Look like new . LA cast iron small block, open chamber. Casting # 348915 A . Was hoping for a spec sheet but no such luck. Thanks. -Mike

Probably the typical Aerohead rebuilt head, they usually came with new stainless valves, decent seals and springs good for .500 lift.
 
Measure the valves. The 318 heads that I bought from them several years ago came with 1.88 intake valves (usually 360 valves) for not much more money than stock valves - yours might have 'em!
 
Look to be 915 castings just like an X or J head with 2.02/1.60 valves. 65'
 
a set of J heads I have - casting # 3418915 (G & H), these Aeroheads are 348915 - missing digit is "1" - my assumption is they may be same spec.
 
If you use them, I would have them looked over by a local machine shop first. I bought a set of rebuild 318 heads from Aerohead from that timeframe and they were all messed up. While priming the engine I couldn't get oil to one rocker bank. The oil feed hole in that head was plugged. A repair had been made to that particular rocker stand and the oil feed had been plugged and not drilled back out. Once that was fixed, the engine was started and ran horribly. I had a machine shop look the heads over and all the valves were tight and hanging up in the guides. They also said the valve job was horrible. I ended up having my original heads rebuilt. The Aerohead set is sitting under my workbench.
 
Any heads that I buy, no matter from whom are immediately taken to the machine shop to be checked out. Many years ago, I took someones word on a set and dropped a valve on initial start up due to wrong retainers and keepers.
 
I have a 340 in my 70 Swinger that has Aerohead "J" heads. I built this engine back in 1998 or 1999. It is still going strong, and putting up with 6,000+ shifts occasionally!
