...if your budget is less than 1500, you can probably find a running 318 someone else is swapping out or has saved from a parts car because it ran good.

I sold my last 318 last year for $300 it was overhauled and ran good solid compression 125 psi across all cylinders. I sold it to a family member and just wanted the price of the internals at the time I purchased them years before...point is a runnimg 318 should be had for sub $500 IMO

Consider a rebuilt 318 that is a direct replacement - less hassle and even comes with a warranty. Seems a lot easier if you're not into solving puzzles and doing fabrication.
