Hey FABO,

I just wanted to take this opportunity to share a little bit of information regarding my purchase experience with Inline Tube and some things to look out for.

In September of last year, my family and I pushed my dad’s 65 Barracuda into the garage to begin a revitalization, if you will, not quite a restoration as much as a novice refresh. Many of you have followed along, been involved and shared insurmountable amounts of help and support, if you’re familiar with our story.

Having said all of that and how grateful we are for all of the information and guidance shared in the FABO, I thought it might be worth while to return the favor somehow in sharing a “lesson learned” on my part…

In no way shape or form am I trying to talk down to anyone or pretend that I have the slightest clue of what I’m doing. ALL of you here are far more superior in real world practical experience and knowledge than I could ever hope to be. But I feel this is a great place to share any and all experiences, big and small, to maybe help the next FABO brother or sister with anything similar.

After making a bulk purchase with Inline Tube for new brake lines, hoses, distribution blocks, fuel lines and so on… I wasn’t quite ready for all of the parts to be installed right away… so, a few parts, in this example the braided SS front brake hoses, sat on the shelf for quite some time…

when the parts arrived, I did not open everything or double check all of the parts or the applications for them… again I’m barely a novice and it did not occur to me that there are MANY variables in the building, parts collecting and reviving of these cars…

So, fast forward, the day comes when it’s time to install the braided front hoses… which by the Inline Tube website do call out for “65 A-body” in their parts selection, ours being exactly that I (prepares for public shaming) ASSUMED that the corresponding parts in the braided hose kit would be correct for my existing hardware, front wheel cylinders being that, with 10” drums.

That was not the case. It turns out that this particular kit (#SH611, which does not include crush washers) comes with a 3an to 7/16 24TPI Adapter (#HAF02) from the wheel cylinder to the hose… me not knowing the difference or taking the time to triple check anything, or educate myself, discovered right away that the wheel cylinders are a 20TPI…

That’s 100% on me in every way for not taking the responsibility to open the package and verify ahead of time.

The correct adapter would be a 3an to 7/16 20TPI adapter (#HAF03)

I contacted Inline Tube and explained the situation. After about a week of talking to different folks with the company, they are sending me the correct adapters as well as the crush washers. They were not only receptive to my concerns but corrected the situation and are ONLY charging me shipping ($$$ less than a gas station coffee and a three day old hot dog) for the new parts, which I feel is more than fair considering I’ve had the parts since September of 2024.

Inline Tube had a decent team of people that I spoke with and are responsive to both emails and phone calls. Overall a very minor mistake and even after all of that time they were still willing to correct it. Professional and reasonable IMO.

So for whatever it’s worth, weather you gain something from this write up or is just gives you something to giggle at over morning coffee, I figured it might be worth sharing.

Thanks so much to everyone who’s helped us with our build. Im sure im not telling anyone here something that you don’t already know. “Check your parts, dummy!” But a lesson learned and shared. I hope that this information that I’ve shared is correct and fair.

Thanks for posting. It's always nice to hear the good stories (instead of just the bad ones). Companies that support our hobby going over and above should be recognized for doing so. :thumbsup:
 
Similar story. My MSD 6a crapped out after 2 months of use. Problem was I had bought it a year and a half before getting it on the road. I sent in the box with a letter of my story and they fixed it for free.

It’s good to see a healthy dose of customer support can still go beyond that of just “product purchased, transaction complete, your problem now.” Thanks for sharing!
 
Thanks for sharing! I might add that companies tend to be much more willing to bend policies and work with customers if you are simply polite and respectful. It's easy to call and yell at some poor lady on the other end of the country, but you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar...
 
I have had 1 good experience out of 3 with Inline tube. Glad things worked out better for you.

I learned a lot time ago to not stockpile any parts unless I know for absolute sure that they will fit. I've fallen outside of the return period on some fairly expensive parts by doing that and wound up having to sell them at a markdown.

Thanks for sharing that, that’s a really import ant point to keep in mind… the “other” more unpleasant side of procrastination… maybe I got lucky this time with some grace… but yes very good point, avoid stockpiling. Thanks!
