Inner Fender Question

there is a 1" by1" square hole on the drivers side inner fender with a round hole to the rear of it. Its about half way down the fender and closer to the front on a little ledge. What is this for. I am filling in all the holes in the engine compartment to get ready for paint and would like to know if these needto be filled,,,thx
 
Thats a drail hole if I understand your post correctly. There should be a hole in the battery tray that matches that hole in the inner fender.
The one(s) on my 69 Dart are oval shaped.

The second hole you describe is probably for the J bolt for the battery hold down bracket to fit into.

hmmmm,, sounds possible,,,the battery was in the trunk when I got it but it is going under the hood now
