After about 3 months of rewiring and repairing wires, connections, etc., I got everything working except the temp gauge. I even put a new sending unit in the intake manifold. Today, I replaced the entire instrument cluster and still the gauge wouldn't work. A friend suggested that maybe there was no water in the engine so I looked in the radiator---Full. I removed the temp sender from the intake and No Water came out. I jammed a pick into the hole and busted something loose (probably rust) because the coolant started flowing out. Now I have a perfectly working temp gauge. I guess they don't work to well when trying to read air temp.
