There was a thread a while back about if you could install a ratchet shifter into stock shifter location. A number of guys had done it and posted pictures of what they looked like. I'm pretty much done with my install thought I would post some pics of what I did to make it fit. I had to remove middle bracket to get shifter to fit, then it was a matter of getting wiring & cable routed for everything to work. 65 stock console is smaller then the later years so took a little work to make it fit inside. All in all, I like it

Looks good man! I really like my Pro-Matic 2. My buddy liked mine so much, he went and bought one for his Demon!

This is insult to injury for me right now.

I literally just installed the same shifter in my car like an hour ago.

Everything was going fine until I went to hook up the cable to the shifter and noticed that it's missing the little peg/pin thing that the cable attaches to. :pale:

I should be slamming gears down a country road right now. Nope, waiting for a response from the people I got the shifter from. Argh!!!

Nice install by the way. Sorry 'bout the rant. I'm still steaming.

... Don't suppose you've got a spare peg/pin thingie? haha

Sorry no peg/pin thingie, hopefully they'll get a new out to you quickly. If it makes you feel better my driveshaft arrived today and got that put in tonight. We are very close to having it on the road, of course there's still snow on ground! :( With driveshaft in I can now add fluid & think about running it & hope that everything works in tranny.

Gear indicator works, put in neutral to show. Hooked up light, that works.

Yup. did mine 18 years ago and it fit/installed just like yours. Valet parkers had a hell of a time figuring out that shifter, hopefully thieves will too! Are you sure you are missing the pin? Thats pretty much part of the shifter mech...? So there is nothing under the shifter indicator marker?

I'm putting a Hurst Pro Matic 2 in my 74 duster with a sitter Factory console as well looks like I'm going to have to cut the factory floor shifter Mount brackets out of the way if I'm careful I could probably just got through the wells and then save them for you sure use that someone ever needs them or if I sell the car that needs to be put back to original but I highly doubt that'll happen
