Installing a Tunnel Ram

Well I installed the tunnel ram yesterday. I would like to let all of you that said it was a bad idea that you were all.......... WRONG!!!! Aside from having to retime it, it runs great if not better. Now I need to find a fiberglass hood for it.

It would be interesting to see what the difference in gas mileage is. Don't forget that if you went with the Lokar stuff you may have to readjust them after a little while.

I've never used Lokar stuff, so I'm curious why he would have to readjust after a little while. Is it because it's cable and not the original mechanical?
 
There is a small amount of stretching that happens with the lokar stuff and after it has been on the car and in use the "slack" should be taken out. I have ran into this with Lokar and the cheaper cabes offered at places like Shucks/Auto Zone.
Lokar also offers their cables with a black nylon type cover instead of the braided stuff now.

wow, that looks really great and congrats on doing it. i think tunnel rams are fairly easy to tune and get running good, just takes a little fidling with.

Glad to hear that it runs good.

I ran a tunnel ram on a stock 383 with cam and headers; apart from the secondaries on the AVS carbs being set too loose, it worked great. Until the old tired motor chowdered.

Idle, off-idle, part throttle... all good. And that was with a pair of Ebay special who-knows-what-they-were-off-from carbs.

One piece of advice: be sure you make your hood easily removable; that motor looks so good you'll want to show it off when cruising on nice days!
