Instrument bezel refinishing

The bezel for my instrument cluster as well as some other dash trim are plastic which was chromed, and then faded, and then painted over (rather poorly, I might add).

Does anyone know of a product that will safely strip paint / plating down to the bare plastic?

The guys at my local hobby store wanted to sell me something that 'should' be safe for 'most' plastics. Not exactly a ringing endorsement.

Easy off works best. Take off any simulated wood trim.
