Ok heres the problem just got the 360 together completely, but the thing will not run. I'm thinkin the intake did not seal when i was mounting it cause it was a lil hard to get the bolts in. Is it possible that my heads have been cut sometime another and now i need to get the intake cut to match if so how can i possibly tell if I need to have the intake cut? Also if ive been turning the engine over shouldn't the spark plug be a lil wet from fuel or atleast smell like fuel and not new?

Not being critical but why do you think the manifold is a problem. Does the car fire up and then die or ?? Post the symptoms and what you have done so far - then maybe someone can help out.

You gotta see if you have spark, see if you're drawing vacuum, make sure it's grounded, could be alotta stuff

While it may not be the problem, if the bolts are difficult to get in, you should get the intake milled. If the bolt holes are not aligned, neither are the ports!
The block or heads may have been decked causing this problem but I've seen it on some OEM assemblies also.

OK i changed the intake bolts and now the thing is alive and running but will not idle. At about 900rpm it just stalls out and at higher rpm it still stalls out when i put it in gear. When i was resealing the intake, the bolts did not line up as should, they where a lil difficult to starte and the bolts would not fall dead center of the hole. Could the intake be suckin air or is this some other problem?

Plug the PCV at the carb, pull the oil cap off and see if you see suction on the valve cover. If the intake is leaking internal you can feel it. Also have you installed a vac gauge?

I have spayed a slight amount of card cleaner in the valve cover to, not much though, if there is an internal leak WITH the PCV discounted it will rev up the engine.

OK i just pulled the pvc to see if it had suction and it did not so i guess the intake leak is out the question. But i was just thinkin about the timeing chain i used, I purchased a chain for a stock 340 is it possible that the timeing chain is advanced 4 degrees which will make my Comp cam 8 degrees advanced. If this is the case would that cause the engine not to idle at 900rpm and also shake? I also notice when i pulled my timeing light to set the timeing the mark was way off and any slight turn of the distributor would stall the engine out. Could the timeing chain be off? Help, please!!!!!!!
