Interior Red dash pad color

Hello FABO early abody fans-

I need help on selecting a dash pad color for my 66' Barracuda with red interior.

Legendary shows two seat colors and I did all my seats in the 505 red. Now I'm getting the dash pad recovered and they want to match the seat color but I thought the dash pad was darker? Mine was originally (when I bought the car in 1989) Krylon Black pained and is long gone. I found a new replacement pad and I am sending it out for recovering but not sure of the actual color for the red covering.

Did all the reds match or were they a spectrum of reds thru out the cars. Like the headliner was a dark red and the original carpet was a bright red. Nothing is tue same.

The only other early a-body I have is a yellow and green interior and not one color is the same. I've personally seen multiple colors of reds on early "A's" across the swap meet and car show spectrum.
Matching the seat and door panel swatches makes the most sense - but this is Mother MoPar we are talking about. LOL!

There's a variety of shades/finishes in the red guts too. The dash metal, column, column door, didn't exactly match anything else. Even though the pigment mix is very close to the same, the different finishes dry to slightly different shades. Then how light reflects changes how the color looks to our eyes even more. Glossy sanded to flat, water or oil on flat are good examples of the light effects.
So the dash cap in my 67 metallic red didn't exactly spot on match the seat skins. It's mighty darn close. A slight difference in that vinyl's grain that vinyl being heated/stretched/formed over the pad have to be the factors.
For what its worth, my red drivers seat has a very well worn panel nearest drivers door. That one area will at times closely matches the dash metal. A little armorall will bring its appearance back closer the dash cap and the rest of the seat.

Red fish- That's what I thought. My only saving grace is there are not too many car shows where there is ever 2 early barracudas parked side by side let alone both with red interiors.
I'm trying to duplicate the dull finish on the dash. I was just going to use the red interior paint and add baby powder like suggested in other threads. Sounded funky, but it should work to give the right texture. I dont care about any other place... but dash board glare is horrible on a summer day.

The SEMs products for vinyl and plastic is a lacquer base and dries to a low gloss. I have used their Landau Black on the dash metal and dry sprayed the final coat to get a suede or powder coat like finish. So that works with the black. I wouldn't even try with the red on the dash metal because that suede finish red didn't have the metallic in it like what I used on the earlier cars dash cap, console, etc..., ( 67 metallic red ).
If I ever did restore my 67 vert and repaint its red dash I would take the column cover and glove box door in for sampling and pay to have another quart minimum custom mixed, at probably 80 bucks or more.

The last quart of red interior I just bought was like $170.00- the correct red for my car but no metallic.
Red is a very expensive color- this is a base coat clear coat also.
They will mix a pint for me and even put it in a spray can but I have to go thru the books and color match a square to my swatch. If I have a good clean paint sample (like a metal panel) they can scan the color and using those new fangled computers match it really good. Glove box door inside is a great idea.
