My car is a 72 Dart Swinger with a 69 340. The problem I am having is that about 75% of the time the engine will not start from the key, however, it will start if I jump the solenoid. I have rplaced the ballast resistor and this still doesn't help. The problem seems to be from the key to the solenoid.

:clock:ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED

try moving the shifter up and down. then try it again worked on my '68 Newport

Check the wiring harness connector that connects the steering column wiring to the main harness. Pull it apart and inspect it. It may be corroded or burnt.

I agree ... sounds like the neutral safety switch is bad or out of adjustment

+1. try a jumper wire from the nss terminal on the solinoid to ground. if it starts then you found the problem. i usually bypass the nss on everything i drive.
