I was looking through some of my Dart's files and came across this invoice. What does "WHITE HAT SPECIAL LESS VINYL ROOF" mean? Is that just Chrysler language for: no vinyl top?

The white hat special consisted of appearance options that came grouped together as a package at the special price. Deluxe wheelcovers, woodgrain steering wheel, bumper guards, fender-mounted turn signals, extra chrome, whitewall tires, vinyl roof, etc. It was a marketing idea to give buyers extra value. If I remember right, the white hat special came out sometime after the model year was underway, not at the beginning, Spring maybe.

Wow, thanks for all the info, goldfish. So, I guess the "less vinyl top" option really means, the special package without vinyl top.

Here's a 68 Dart ad for you

Here's a couple 69 White Hat Special ads, the first one is a twin to the Charger I bought when I was 17
