Maybe you guys can answer this question for me.

I've heard that the Sure-Grip used the Dana Power-Lock differential, but I've never been able to confirm it, and in order to avoid spreading incorrect information I just wanted to know for sure.

'Cuz if they were the same, hows come the Power Lock came in a 3.73:1, but the Sure-Grip didn't?

Thanks.

I sure would like to find a '60-'62 Valiant or Lancer body, into which I can install the Slanter, A904 and running gear that I've got!

They do look the same and the parts go together the same, maybe the brand?

The early (pre-'70) Sure-Grip is the Dana/Spicer Powr Loc. You could also get a 3.73 gear in 741 case in 60's, I have one and they are the factory gears. I think it came out of a truck.

You can get 3.7x gears for mopar rear ends, they just weren't offered by the factory. Just go Randy's Ring and Pinion or one of the other sites.

I was going to put 3.73's in my 8.25 rear end but the gears were out of stock and I didn't want to wait so I wound up going with the 3.55's.
