I don't see why not. Dodge uses the t56(newest version of it) in the SRT challengers that have 400+ and weigh a ton more than an A-body.
 
arent they also used in vettes, vipers ect??? i would imagine any trans that came behind a car like that will hold
 
Thx, they are pretty reasonable in the boneyard and plentifull. Plus I dont abuse my stuff since i have to fix it..
 
Just remember the LT1 T56 that is reasonable to buy isn't strong enough. You want a Viper T56, GTO or Camaro T56. Then you'll have to swap the input shaft on the Chevy T56's.
